Hôtel Montalembert Brings the literary soul of Saint-Germain-des-Prés to life

This 5-star hotel oozes the sort of Left Bank charm that Parisians adore. As well as hosting literary awards, the Montalembert is highly prized for its bar and its restaurant serving a wide range of delicious dishes.

Situated on the Left Bank at the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, a district renowned for its literary history, the Montalembert hotel, bought this year by the Bessé Signature family group, is still clearly in the thrall of words. Partner of the Prix Françoise Sagan, it also hosts the ceremony for the Marie Claire prize for the best women’s novel. It is impossible to resist the powers of persuasion and refinement of this 5-star hotel with its 54 rooms and suites. In fine weather, guests can enjoy the gorgeous terrace far from the hustle and bustle of the city, and bask in the sun from breakfast to dinner as they savor the latest culinary creations of David Maroleau, who cut his teeth at the Lancaster under Michel Troisgros and Fabrice Salvador. Originally from La Rochelle, where he trained, Maroleau has been the head chef at the Montalembert for eight years and honed his skills in prestigious hotels including the Plaza Athénée and the George V in Paris and the Ritz in London. Also served in the hotel’s delightful restaurant, the flavorsome menu is inspired by Plants, Land, Sea, and Sun for the desserts, and dishes are prepared using the freshest seasonal produce. The chef can also make “tasting” and “gourmet” versions of his dishes to suit your taste. The Montalembert hotel has a cozy, sophisticated feel that reflects the spirit of this neighborhood, the haunt of intellectuals and philosophers, where there’s nothing better than a romantic stroll around its narrow streets, art galleries and designer stores.
