The Grand Amour A love hotel

After L’Hôtel Amour, André Saraiva presents the Grand Amour! The furniture in this five-story hotel has been selected from antique dealers in northern France, the Drouot auction house, or picked up on trips to New York and Tokyo, with a focus on major designers from the 30s to the 50s, so each of the 42 rooms (and one apartment) has its own atmosphere. In a cheeky nod to the hotel’s name, the Pierre Frey carpet in the corridors leading to guest rooms features a phallic print by André himself; the walls are lined with erotic photomontages by artists ranging from Pierre Molinier to Mr & Mrs Woodman by Man Ray. The reception and its small curiosity shop share the ground floor with a carved wooden bar serving espressos and lattes, plus a wide range of post-6 o’clock cocktails. Seating one hundred diners, the restaurant has a classic brasserie feel, not a million miles from La Coupole. There’s also a winter garden overlooking a square courtyard with stone benches. A sauna will soon be added to the list of the hotel’s delights. A stay at the Hôtel Grand Amour is always bound to be high in… emotion!
