Christian Louboutin has chosen the Véro-Dodat gallery, where he opened his first store 20 years ago, as the showcase for his new range of beauty products. After gracing the most beautiful women in the world with his signature red-soled shoes, he has expanded his fashion empire to include a line of cosmetics – starting with nail polish. Designed by Pierre Yovanovitch, the store draws its inspiration from the nail varnish bottle, which is a work of art in itself. Behind the façade, a listed historic monument, the visitor enters a huge luminescent bottle lined with white velvet-smooth walls. The materials – Hainaut blue stone for the floor and burnt wood for the displays and furniture – reflect Yovanovitch’s taste for craftwork and his eye for detail. Clouds projected onto the ceiling give the room a dream-like sense of movement.
