Clover

Parisian chef Jean-François Piège shot to media stardom following his appearance on the popular television show Top Chef. Good news for his biggest fans (us included!), Jean-François Piège and his charming wife Élodie have just opened a new culinary space called Clover. Tucked way on the quiet rue Perronet in Saint-Germain-des-Prés lies a pocket-sized restaurant with bench seating running down one wall to accommodate around fifteen tables. While space is tight with fridges filled with colorful vegetables and a sleek open kitchen at the back, Charlotte Biltgen’s soft decor adds a warm and inviting touch. Come revel in the chef’s creativity with a delicious prix-fixe menu served at lunch and dinner for a sweet price given the high level of quality. We especially loved the quinoa craquant with eggplant and black sesame, the chicken bouillon infused with toasted Jerusalem artichokes and the pollock in a slightly salted butter glaze. The Saint-Jacques scallop was perhaps the only dish that posed problem since it was quite stuck to the piping hot stone on which it was served! The only dessert on the menu was just as healthy as all other dishes: an incredible oven-baked butternut squash served with hay-flavored vanilla-rum ice cream! Thrilling the palate without ever throwing it off, Clover is by far the best gastronomic discovery 2015 has seen yet. We don’t know whether Jean-François Piège’s clover has four leaves, but it seems to be bringing the chef luck – the restaurant has been packed from the moment it opened! Prix-fixe menus at €28 and €42 for lunch. €58 and €73 for dinner.
