Bô, by Julia Sedefdjian

A few months after opening her first restaurant Baïeta (which means “kiss” in the local Niçois dialect), the talented Julia Sedefdjian, the youngest Michelin-starred chef at Les Fables de la Fontaine, has done it again just a stone’s throw away. With the help of Grégory Anelka and Sébastien Jean-Joseph, Julia has just opened an adorable Caribbean-style bar and eatery called (which, surprise-surprise, means “kiss”, but this time in creole!). Set in a cozy, understated decor with soothing plants, high top tables and comfortable chairs, and extremely attentive service, the location is conducive to chilling with friends after work around some delicious house cocktails (from €9 to €12), or one of the some thirty rums rigorously selected and sourced from around the world (from €7 to €39 for 5cl). But Bô is also an excellent eatery, where Julia Sedefdjian wields all of her starred-chef knowledge to revisit the great classics of Caribbean cuisine in a most successful tapas style with dishes at set prices (€6 for savory and €5 for sweet). We loved the delicate fish tartar with coconut milk, the tasty avocado and shrimp salad, the traditional chiquetaille (with your choice of chicken boucané, cod or herring), the surprising pig snout with kidney beans, or the lentils with smoked sausage. Countless little plates that can be given an extra kick with the “house” hot pepper, terribly good, but fiendishly spicy! The desserts of mango/coconut panna cotta or chocolate brioche will appeal to any sweet tooth. The restaurant also features the Chaloupé Bô prix-fixe menu at €30 for 2 people, with your choice of 4 savory dishes and 2 sweet dishes from the menu. No reservations.
