Laulhère berets head for the capital

France’s last beret maker, nestled since 1840 at the foot of the Pyrenees, has opened its first store on the prestigious rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré, along with an e-store. A symbol of France, this soft, round hat is back in fashion. Visitors discover Laulhère’s collection of berets for men, women and children in a streamlined, contemporary and cozy 100 sq.m. space in a courtyard set back from the street. After staff take your measurements, it’s up to you to select the shape and color along with any decorative touches you might like, including embroidery and sequins, or leather braid. What makes this traditional headwear so irresistible is the fact that it is knitted then felted using virgin Merino wool before being dyed with a blend of pigments exclusive to Laulhère. For the ultimate in sophistication, the customization service allows you to add your initials in gold leaf. To capture this special moment, you can even have your photograph taken in a photo area and leave with a Polaroid of your beret look.
