Celebrating 150 years of Le Printemps

To bring its 150th anniversary to a stunning climax, Le Printemps is thinking big. The whole department store has been caught up in the celebrations, from the eleven window displays decorated by six top brands – Longines, Burberry, Christian Louboutin, Sonia Rykiel, Lancôme, and Évian – to Fauchon’s delicious treats in the atrium.

Shoppers can expect some extra special Christmas cheer at Le Printemps this year. For the grand finale of its 150th anniversary celebrations, the Paris department store is giving pride of place to seven premium brands. In the atrium, you’ll find Fauchon’s delicious creations, while Lancôme, Longines, Burberry, Christian Louboutin, Évian and Sonia Rykiel have teamed up with Philippe Decouflé to produce enchanting tableaux for the window displays. This year, Le Printemps and the artist have drawn their inspiration from a fairy tale written especially for the store in 1911. The story of a fairy who wants to relive spring at Christmas time, it’s an ode to hope and life, rebirth and light. From the façades of the atrium to the brasserie, the whole store has been touched by the mischievous fairy’s magic wand. She even appeared in the form of movie star Kate Winslet, Lancôme’s muse, at last month’s launch evening. Philippe Decouflé’s poetic animated playlets for the window displays are a wizardly mix of illusion and interaction. There’s plenty of magic on the outside too, where the historic store will be playing host to the latest technology – including a five-meter high 3D fairy! The “Little Master of Time” by Longines will be holding a giant clock on the store’s historic façade on rue du Havre to keep passers-by on their toes. The show continues in the Brasserie with an exclusive menu concocted by Michelin-starred chef, Virginie Basselot from the Saint James, and a pop-up Fauchon café in the atrium, where you can also purchase the brand’s iconic delicacies and products produced exclusively for Le Printemps in a special delicatessen store. The Charras rotunda will also provide a showcase for a Lancôme pop-up store under a sky of white flowers, roses and gold. In fact, gold is the common denominator of the creations produced especially for this precious anniversary. Used in every possible way by the store’s luxury, fashion, beauty and home interior partner brands, it adds extra sparkle to more than two hundred exclusively-produced items. If 12km of tinsel, 130 stars, 8,000 flowers and three months of construction work doesn’t sound like a celebration to you, we don’t know what does!
