Saint-Germain Church gets its colors back

The frescoes in the nave of Saint-Germain-des-Prés church were recently unveiled after two years of restoration work. Begun in 2015, this is the third phase of a restoration project, after the choir and transept, supported by city hall. Directed by Pierre-Antoine Gatier, head architect of heritage protection service Monuments historiques, it has gone off without a hitch. Cleaned of dirt and dust, all the paintings in the nave have been restored to their original 19th-century glory. Work to transform Saint-Germain-des-Prés church will continue until 2020.
