La Meringaie, marvelous meringues

Hot on the heels of its first store on rue de Lévis, La Meringaie has opened another lip-smacking outlet in Paris, near the Bon Marché department store.

Despite the Russian name, its famous pavlovas – fresh, light desserts made from crunchy meringues topped with whipped cream and seasonal fruits – are an Australian specialty created in honor of the Russian Anna Pavlova after completing a tour of Oceania in 1920.
