Trendy

La Démesure

A vast space spans 450 m² over two levels. The ground floor has an immense dining room with abstract paintings decorating the walls, two bars including one with a view of the kitchen, and on the facade a mini-dining room-terrace that opens onto the street with four high tables; all of the spaces are furnished with modern pale wood tables and chairs. The basement is home to a club with a cocktail bar in a kitsch multicolor decor (live music Wednesdays and Thursdays and DJ sets on weekends), a smoking room and even a karaoke machine. The brainchild of Boris Ponthieu (former manager of the Baron), Vincent Martinez (owner of L’Atelier des Artistes), Filipe Alves and David Lopes, four pros of the bar and restaurant scene, the concept aspires to create a trendy location where everything is measured and charged by the gram and the centiliter. And that’s almost the case. Cocktails range from 25cl (€12) to a liter (€30). The menu features a nice composition of pleasant dishes concocted by the talented chef Romain Brechignac, in S, M or even XL portions, like the solo rib steak (€34), no less than 400g, nice and tender and done to perfection, with perfectly oven-roasted clams with olive oil and garlic (€8), miso-marinated salmon and nappa cabbage (€12 for 80 g or €24 for 160g), pluma of Iberian pork a la plancha served with ratte potato mousseline (€11 for 100g or €22 for 200g), and lemon tart (€8)… It just opened and it’s already a hit. La Démesure is quickly set to become one of the trendy places to be in Paris. Prix-fixe lunch menu at €14.50.
