Harry Winston An incredible talent

A visit of the Harry Winston boutique on the 29 avenue Montaigne.

A unique experience; a journey between the jeweler’s present and its brilliant past: that’s the promise held out by the Harry Winston store at 29 avenue Montaigne, where the man himself used to present his collections from the early 1960’s onwards. Customers now enter this temple to high-end jewelry via the main entrance of the Harry Winston salon or the lobby of the Plaza Athénée. After a year of renovation works, the Harry Winston salon recently revealed its new look. Neither exactly the same nor totally different, it remains in touch with the elegance and sophistication for which this jeweler has been renowned since it was founded in New York in 1932. “What defines Harry Winston, beyond the sparkle of its diamonds, is its extraordinary heritage. The brand has never ceased to evolve, that’s why it is more than ever necessary to preserve the traditions to which it is attached,” says Nayla Hayek, president of Harry Winston, Inc. This historic store reflects the Harry Winston style in the delicacy of the décor’s taupe and gray tones, the exclusivity of the Winston blue in its window displays, and the affectation of its made-to-measure furnishings in lacquer, distressed bronze and refined silk. The identity of the king of diamonds is still there, but reworked to give it a modern edge. The brand has expanded its high jewelry collection, The Incredibles, launched in 2008, to include, among other items, a bracelet encrusted with 102 diamonds weighing a total of 59.27 carats, and a choker with nine sapphires, weighing 87 carats, and 216 diamonds. Ironically, it was Harry Winston himself who stated; “A beautiful diamond, ruby or emerald, no matter how small, is a treasure cherished for generations.”
