Biglove Caffè,

Two HEC business school graduates, Tigrane Seydoux and Victor Lugger chose to create their start-up… in Italian food. And what a success! After Ober Mamma, East Mamma and Mamma Primi, they have now opened this friendly trattoria in the Marais district. The restaurant boasts a mind-blowing Italian “caffè” decor with an army of Parma cured hams, strings of hot peppers hanging from the ceiling and, running along the stone walls, worn wood shelves overflowing with jars, bags of dried beans, tin cans, sauces: a genuine treasure trove of Italian produce! The Biglove nevertheless differs from the rest of the “Mamma” family with a decidedly brunch-oriented menu (served from 9am to 6 pm), with organic egg’s Benedict (€10), a burratina to share (€11), a duo of truffle and fennel saucisson (€7) or a brioche bread pudding with mascarpone cream and raspberries, to die for! The lunch and dinner menus are supplemented with fresh pasta dishes, like the flawless truffle pasta (€18), salads, two featured dishes – the star being the 10-hour leg of lamb served with creamy polenta and baby vegetable granola (€17) – and pizzas galore (from €13 to €16)… all gluten free! But since we have not been swept up in the growing Parisian trend of gluten intolerance, we still prefer the delicious, crispier pizzas from the neighbor (and big sister) Ober Mamma!
