Hanami

This year, the Aquarium is doing a repeat of 2019 with a gorgeous, sprawling temporary terrace at the heart of the bucolic Trocadéro gardens, on the Aquarium de Paris square. A location in a magnificent setting, albeit a little austere in terms of comfort, with wooden garden furniture, lined with large Japanese-style banners and, at one end, a number of street-food stands we were happy to hear are run by chefs under the guidance of Yoake San (candidate in the first season of Top Chef). On the agenda: sushi, raw fish (sushi, maki, chirashi, from €5 to €16), fried foods (gyoza, tempura, panko, from €4 to €7), etc.), yakitori (wood-fired brochettes, €6), ramen (from €15 to €16), donburi (from €14 to €15) and a handful of desserts (from €4 to €10) that you can order and pay for directly by smartphone after scanning a QR code. That said, don’t expect cuisine with flavors that will transport you to the Ginza district in Tokyo, for while the dishes we tested were good and obviously prepared with quality ingredients, it is still far from an authentic taste experience. So come to Hanami above all for its large and pleasant terrace and for the friendly service.
