RAS

The trio Willy, Térence and Kevin recently opened RAS (for “Rien à Signaler” or “Nothing to Report”), just steps from the Goncourt metro station. Designed by the Siv Tone Kverneland studio, the setting boasts a streamlined, urban industrial style with a mix of waxed concrete, wood and metal, open kitchen and light-tiled bar topped with a collection of American ball caps. In keeping with the hip hop atmosphere, the chefs have switched up their toques for ball caps, the service is casual (not to say “chill”), and the music selection in tune with the decor (hip hop, RnB, Old School and New School) to satisfy the most demanding connoisseurs. The menu draws inspiration from modern street food, with a duo of snacks to accompany the fabulous house cocktails, like the cheeseburger brick pastries (€7), which are delicious albeit a little greasy. Then came a fresh banh-mi salad (€8), a hybrid reinterpretation of the Caesar salad and the Vietnamese banh-mi sandwich, or a tasty sea bream ceviche with coconut and cilantro sauce (€9). The PFC (Paname Fried Chicken) with homemade ketchup (€14) was excellent, as was the cheeseburger (€13) on an Urban Bakery bun with truffled Gouda cheese and homemade chips. RAS also has a duo of decadent desserts at €7: homemade churros or chocolate-Tonka bean mousse with peanuts, salt-butter caramel corn and cocoa nibs.
