Artparis : a historic edition

Artparis returns to the legendary Grand Palais from April 3 to 6. Art historian and former director of the Centre Pompidou Alfred Pacquement - still highly engaged in the contemporary art scene - celebrates the ever - growing dynamism of art fairs. He is particularly enthusiastic about ArtParis, which, more than most, highlights the thriving French art scene.

The 27th edition of ArtParis marks a triumphant return to the newly renovated Grand Palais, promising an even more impressive season than last year’s historic fair. Occupying both the nave and balconies, the event brings together 170 galleries from 25 different countries, with 60% French and 40% international representation. ” Paris has far more assets than any other capital”, explains Alfred Pacquement. “It boasts a dynamic network of cultural institutions, a vibrant gallery scene, influential foundations, and historic museums that remain open to contemporary art”.

Since Guillaume Piens took the helm, ArtParis has successfully blended local, national, and international identities. Regular participants include renowned galleries such as Sémiose, Mennour, Continua, Lelong and Templon. Meanwhile, first-time exhibitors include Madrid’s Sabrina Amrani, London’s Waddington-Custot, and Geneva’s Wilde Gallery. This year’s program is richer than ever. The fair spotlights 22 monographic exhibitions, offering in-dept presentations of modern, contemporary, and emerging artists. Highlights include Enki Bilal at Barbier, Loïc Le Groumellec at Françoise Livinec, and Vera Molnar at Oniris. The Emergence sector, dedicated to rising talents, expands under the curatorship of Marc Donnadieu, featuring galleries such as Michèle Schoonjans and Felix Frachon from Brussels. Looking ahead to 2025, ArtParis will launch the French Design Art Edition, curated by Jean Paul Bath and Sandy Saad, showcasting works by Pierre Bonnefille, Philippe Hurel, and Nicolas Aubagnac. ArtParis also features two thematic exhibitions each year. Hors Limites, curated by Simon Lamunière, explores contemporary creativity through the lens of cross-cultural influences and hybrid forms, with artists like Kurt Schwitters At Zlotowski, Kiki Smith at Lelong, and Joana Vasconcelos at Gowen Contemporary. Meanwhile, Immortelle, curated by Amélie Adamo and Numa Hambursin, presents a generational dialogue on figurative painting in France, featuring Françoise Pétrovitch at Sémiose, Karine Rougier at les Filles du Calvaire, and Eugène Leroy at Claude Bernard. Don’t miss a moment of relaxation at the ArtParis VIP lounge, where Maison Ruinart continues its patronage of the Conversations with nature series, supporting Lélia Demoisy’s artitic project. Without a doubt, the 2025 edition of ArtParis at the Grand Palais sets a new benchmark, perfectly embodying its role as a regional yet cosmopolitan fair driven by discovery.
