Observatoire Luxembourg : a left bank hotel for Paris lovers
Just steps from the Jardin du Luxembourg, the Hôtel Observatoire has reopened following a thoughtful transformation, while remaining deeply faithful to the spirit of the Left Bank. Led by hotelier Georges Bonneau, this, boutique property is infused with the poetic atmosphere of literary Paris and its storied gardens. A rich palette of greens pays tribute to the surrounding gardens – the Luxembourg Gardens, the Observatory gardens, and those of the Institut National des Jeunes Sourds de Paris, visible from select rooms and the Signature Suite. Envisioned by architect-designer Philippe Maidenberg, the hotel’s new identity is punctuated with affectionate nods to Paris: stylized cobblestones, woven cane details, and the spirit of classic bistro chairs. On the ground floor, the brasserie Le Luco – the affectionate nickname students give the Luxembourg Gardens – pulses throughout the day with the rhythm of the neighborhood, serving vibrant, impeccably fresh cuisine. At the top of the hotel, a terrestrial globe aligned with the historic Arago meridian that crosses Paris recalls the origin of the Observatoire name. A discreetly charming address that reveals itself gradually over the course of a stay.
