Les Jardins de l’Espadon Ritz Paris

When you step into the Ritz, you are not entering just any fancy hotel in Paris. The palace is a world apart, where time seems to stand still and luxury reaches its height. The tiniest detail is given great importance, in the decor and service alike. Since its reopening in mid-2016, the Ritz offers an array of culinary experiences, each more enchanting than the next. Under the direction of Nicolas Sale, Les Jardins de l’Espadon is a Michelin-star restaurant open only for lunch, echoing La Table de L’Espadon, which boasts two Michelin stars and serves only evening meals. For our lunch beneath the new glass roof, in a setting that is remarkably peaceful for Paris, Nicolas Sale concocted a menu that showcases all of his expertise while holding his talent in check, perhaps so as not to offer the same experience as La Table de l’Espadon. In just one hour (for those in more of a rush), you can enjoy warm Gillardeau oysters, clam soup with Noilly vermouth, and caramelized cauliflower cakes, followed by sate-roasted John Dory, gnocchi with tomato and basil, and pan-fried squid. François Perret’s desserts are as delicious as they are surprising, like the ciflorette strawberry vacherin with olive oil ice cream and Bresse cream. The service is, of course, very “ritzy”, and by that we mean attentive and courteous with its cherished guests. Excellent wine list compiled by head sommelier Estelle Touzet.
