Beaupassage, a vast courtyard-patio on the Left Bank, has already won over some of the greatest names in French gastronomy. Anne-Sophie Pic, the famous chef with no less than 7 Michelin stars to her name, has just opened a chic boutique-diner with a terrace, featuring a collection of 18 gourmet jars to enjoy on location or take away. We were there for the opening and were blown away by the quality of the dishes that are prepared in the Drôme and can be kept in their jars for up to 3 weeks. We started by tasting a beet salad with smoked trout and coffee (€8), and appreciated the freshness and flavor of this unique starter. We then tried the cod with tarragon, carrot and lemon-lentil vinaigrette (€10). A lovely dish that doesn’t at all seem like something “canned” – the prime quality fish flakes beautifully as if it had been made to order! The slow-cooked lamb with mint, Mediterranean grains and raisins (€11.50) was pleasant, but not at the same level as the other dishes. And we saved the best for last: a coffee floating island with creamy hazelnut praline (incredible!) (€6.50), a real must for all dessert lovers! A practical spot to have a pleasant meal with friends or family… or to stock up your fridge for those long winter nights!
