The new cool at Galeries Lafayette
At Galeries Lafayette, a circular and more responsible creation is being spotlighted from April 19 to June 26, through a wide-ranging initiative dubbed “The New Cool”. Karine Viel, the Director of Sustainable Development at Galeries Lafayette, outlines the approach: “Circularity means adding value back into things, designing with the product’s second life already in mind”. To bring this concept to life, Galeries Lafayette is buzzing with initiatives: a pop-up offering personalized advice, clothing repair workshops, and a Jaiio consignment sale (which also has its own store at 10 rue du Jour in the 1st arrondissement), talks with committed designers (for instance, on April 20, Patagonia, Veja, Ecoalf will discuss whether a brand can become a symbol of a more responsible lifestyle)…
Le Slip Français will offer free repairs for any defects in its collections, Barbour will provide re-waxing services for its garments (ranging from €25 to €80 depending on the service), repair them, or make alterations, regardless of their age. On April 20, designer Marine Serre will host a screen printing workshop featuring her All Over Moon print. Until May 23, Lagostina and until May 25, Guy Degrenne and Le Jacquard Français will take back their old products to recycle them or donate them to charities. This series of initiatives continues throughout the year on the 3rd floor of the main Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann store with the [RE]Store. 500 sq. m. dedicated to a wide selection of unique, vintage, and second-hand pieces. It’s also an opportunity to discover new arrivals like MaisonCléo, Âge Paris, Aud Rey, Kabas… The New Cool takes over every department at Galeries Lafayette.
