La Boutique Extraordinaire at the Carreau du Temple
Small it may be, but this I’ll-just-stay-another-minute-or-two store really rocks. And it really is extraordinary because it’s a labor of love for founder and manager Agnès Butor, who describes herself as a “discoverer of extraordinary yarns” – which means she’s probably the only one in the world!
Apart from discovering yarns, she also brings to light designers, and every month she displays a yarn or a textile creator. La Boutique Extraordinaire is three places in one: textile art gallery, showroom and fabric museum where you’re actually allowed to touch all you like.
Agnès Butor also carries an equally extraordinary selection of clothes, from one-offs to limited series, often handmade by new designers. Part of an ethical and innovative approach designed to safeguard know-how, these garments are produced in small workshops that respect the environment… and the rules of elegance.
That’s why this store weaves a network of “extraordinary” designers – that’s just how they roll here.
