La Rôtisserie d’Argent

Open in 1989 under the name Rôtisserie du Beaujolais by Claude Terrail, the traditional Lyonnaise restaurant with a view over Ile Saint-Louis has been given a fresh start under the direction of Alain Terrail, grandson of the founder of the neighboring world-famous Tour d’Argent. It is now a typically Parisian bistro with a majestic rotisserie oven spinning with plump birds and well-chosen cuts of lamb (from €21 to €35). The most generous pieces are “to share” and will easily satisfy two hearty appetites (from €65 to €68). The rest of the menu pays honor to the great bistro cuisine classics with mainstay dishes like the “André Terrail” pike quenelles (€14), veal kidneys with violet mustard and mushrooms (€23) and traditional floating island dessert (€9). But it would be a shame to dine here without tasting the famous Marco Polo duck in two services with its heady green pepper sauce, truly addictive (€68 for two). Lovely wine list featuring several reassuring and familiar estates (Duboeuf, Chapoutier, Jadot, Guigal, Couly, Ladoucette, etc.) and flawless service orchestrated by Steven Limon. Special mention for the excellent bread from the Boulangerie de la Tour located next to the restaurant.
