Mr. T restaurant

Just steps from the Marché des Enfants Rouges, at the heart of the bobo Haut-Marais district, a new team has just invested the pocket-sized location of what used to be the Noglu.

Mr. T is Mister Tsuyoshi San: a Japanese chef from the Passage 53, highly skilled in the preparation of delightfully modern and creative cuisine, with a twist of spices and flavors from around the world. The kitchen is fully open onto the dining room and lined with a counter for guests to sit and watch the chef juggle his pots and pans.

On the day of our visit, the menu was in “slash” mode featuring, for example, a delicious taco/calamari/tomato/avocado (€14) with the cephalopod done to perfection, or a very original foie gras/cocoa “Oréo” (€12). Two starters followed by a superb blackened mackerel/burrata/watercress (€19) and a beautifully revisited chicken/Caesar (€24). Lovely panna/coco for dessert (€8).

The dining room, boasting a Brooklyn-themed decor with a relief fresco by Lazy Vassily and red neon lights, is overseen by the welcoming Enguerrand Cantegrel.

Don’t hesitate to follow the sound advice of Mr. T, when trying to decide between a mezcal cocktail or infused bourbon, or choosing a nice bottle from the wine list that harbors a few gems from the French terroir.

But be warned: word of mouth has meant the place is often booked solid, so it’s best to reserve. Starter and main dish combo at €19 for lunch.
