The restaurant Girafe on the rooftop terrace of the Musée de l’Architecture at the Trocadéro is the new location by Laurent de Gourcuff and Gilles Malafosse, the duo behind such successful Parisian establishments as Monsieur Bleu at the Palais de Tokyo and LouLou at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. Like its older siblings, Girafe’s interior design was done by the talented Joseph Dirand, who produced some of his finest work here with a 1930s vibe, featuring a array of beige tones, a majestic veined marble bar encircled by comfy, velvet tub chairs… and the bonus of a magnificent, sprawling terrace with beautifully laid tables and a breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower: truly magical! An extraordinary setting that is not used as a pretext for hit-and-miss cuisine. On the contrary, the sea-inspired menu curated by chef Benoit Dargère has made it one of the new hotspots for seafood aficionados in the capital. Prime examples include a best-in-class sea bream ceviche with lemon and coconut milk (€22) for a nice tang of botanical flavors, the flawlessly grilled octopus (€35), done just to the point of tenderness and perfectly accompanied by an elegant aioli, a delicate potato mousseline and summer vegetables, and last but not least, a delightful red berry Pavlova (€15). Lovely selection of wines to accompany your meal. Reduced menu in the afternoon.
