Formerly the Petit Zinc and the Muniche, the two bistros beside the iconic Saint-Germain-des-Prés cinema were created by the Layrac brothers before being taken over by the Blanc brothers and then a management company that gave them the coup de grace! Now in the hands of the Lumière company, the complex seeks to create a unique media space, part brasserie part projection room, “conducive to immersive experiences, discussion, sharing and togetherness around film, music, culture and the art of living with the times”… quite the show! Tempted by a promising cast – Studio KO for the interior design and the brilliant starred chef Mathieu Pacaud for the menu – we were eager to try the restaurant. The restaurant itself is gorgeous with a long terrace that seats 45 and a dining room with a mezzanine for 80. The decor flaunts a chic brasserie vibe featuring a large counter trimmed with pale wood paneling, champagne-hued tables with gold metal trimmed tops and comfy black leather padded bench seats. A warm and inviting atmosphere for a break after work or a meal for two or shared with friends. Mathieu Pacaud has concocted a promising menu with modern dishes like the crab millefeuille with thin slivers of raw button mushrooms (€25). We then chose a grilled lobster with tarragon butter (€35), which was truly excellent, as was the delicious spinach with lemon confit – one of the five side dishes to choose from. Among the desserts on offer, fashionistas will love the pavlova loaded with red berries and whipped cream (€15). If you like discovering trendy and up-and-coming locations, this is the place for you! Small menu of snacks to share over drinks (€10 to €22).
