Red Katz, with its striking red facade, invites guests on a journey where Parisian chic meets the rich traditions of Chinese cuisine. Designed by Studio Louis Morgan, the restaurant blends marble, mirrors, and tapestries, evoking a 1930s New York speakeasy. From the wood structures reminiscent of traditional Chinese homes to mosaics inspired by Mah-jong, Red Katz offers a chic, modern experience. The grand oak bar at the entrance serves as a centerpiece, ideal for sipping one of the signature cocktails, like the Velvet Lotus – a bold, fruity creation of tequila and lychee liqueur. The menu reveals beautiful Cantonese- inspired cuisine, rooted in tradition with a contemporary twist. Three chefs orchestrate this culinary symphony: one specializing in dim sum, another in wok-prepared dishes, and a third overseeing the rotisserie. Leave behind the prawn toasts – a modernized version of Toasts Madame Butterfly – and indulge in dim sum like the delicate shrimp hakao or tender pork and shrimp siu mai. For the indecisive, there’s the Treasure Box or the Duo Box. The main dishes continue to celebrate the wealth of Chinese flavors, revisited with just the right touch. The famed Peking duck, lacquered and then roasted meticulously over two days, is enjoyed in two courses: first, the crispy skin in handmade pancakes, followed by the meat sautéed with vegetables, a true round-trip to Canton. Finish with the Pearl Panna Cotta with lychee, grapefruit coulis, and almond crumble for a refreshing, light conclusion. Red Katz is the perfect place to (re)discover Chinese gastronomy in an atmosphere where every corner tells a story.
