A treat for Karamel lovers
After starting out at Ladurée, Nicolas Helewin from Normandy has opened a store dedicated to caramel in its many delicious forms. Karamel is a tearoom, pâtisserie and chocolate store all in one. Inspired by childhood snacks, it serves numerous spreadable caramels such as gianduja & hazelnut, honey & vanilla, raspberry and fleur de sel. This bold approach is reflected in the streamlined décor created with architect Jules Mesny. A mix of raw materials – wood, copper, with touches of charcoal – and vintage furniture, it’s a real home-from-home. Thanks to an old record player, you can also eat and chat to the soundtrack of your own choosing. There are lots of delightful little touches, including chocolate bars presented like books in a “chocolate library” and customizable packaging by graphic artist Jean-Baptiste Humbert. The Karamélisée bars come in really unusual flavors like red fruit and oats, or lime and hazelnut. Crunchy, smooth, moist or frothy, this simple but difficult-to-master product is guaranteed to thrill your taste buds. At Karamel, tasting is believing. It’s a real work of art!
