Maxim’s

Famous for its spectacular Art Nouveau decor, Maxim’s has reopened after several months of renovations and a change of ownership. The press is full of praise for this Maxim’s “à la” Paris Society version. A surprising media frenzy from our colleagues. The menu features a mix of Paris Society restaurant staples and some Maxim’s specialties such as parsley frog legs, cheese soufflé, VGE soup with its puff pastry over truffle broth, Henri IV chicken, sole Albert, and lobster à l’américaine. While we appreciate this unique place in Paris worthy of a museum, we were disappointed by the pretentiousness of this new version of Maxim’s. A restaurant without a known chef, a menu that assembles proposals without any clear direction, and inexperienced service complete a culinary experience far from memorable. The same goes for the evening music entertainment, now in English. Parisians from the upscale neighborhoods are happy to be seen at this fashionable address that deserved a better fate.
