Take a culinary trip to Italy with Meriggio
After the short-lived Maison F. and its fries with all sauces closed up shop, soon followed by the Partisan with its neo-bistro cuisine, one might begin to think that this location near the Grands Boulevards were jinxed. But Bastien and Laura Corinti, the brother and sister team of Italian origin who recently opened this Italian-style trattoria, seem to have broken the bad spell. We loved the timeless and cozy setting custom-created by architect Damien Brambilla, mixing Carrara marble, Mediterranean tiles and designer light fixtures. All the right ingredients to draw Parisians strolling along the Grands Boulevards, increasingly prone to stop in at this wine and fine food shop, cocktail bar and restaurant to discover the best of Italian fare. The bar is bound to make a killing with its aperitif breaks of spritz served with Italian charcuterie and Parmesan cheese. The flawless menu features culata di Parma, an excellent 16-month cured ham (€10), a tender and tasty octopus carpaccio (€10), a perfect lasagna made with meat sauce that has simmered for no less than 5 hours (€17), as well as a selection of risotto and pasta dishes. A handful of traditional desserts such as the classic coffee tiramisu (€9) put the finishing sweet touch on a pleasant meal. Short but interesting selection of Italian wines, all served by the glass (starting at €5 for 12cl). Friendly service and in Italian to boot.
