The Hoxton, a hotel in tune with the times

After London and Amsterdam, The Hoxton has landed in the Sentier district, with plans to open another in New York shortly. A stylish hotel where everyone’s welcome for fun times, it’s a haven for hipsters or anyone who loves relaxed, elegant spaces. Set in an 18th-century townhouse designed by architect Nicolas d’Orbay for Etienne Rivié, a counselor of Louis XV, its original fifteen staircases, including two spiral, exposed beams and period tiles have been lovingly preserved.

The 172 rooms set around two inner courtyards were decorated by Paris interior designers Humbert & Poyet with 50s styling, such as Gras lamps, brass mesh partitions and Formica. The public areas – a large lobby with a lounge feel, bookcases, fireplaces and vintage pieces; Rivié, a contemporary French brasserie, and Jacques’ Bar, a speakeasy with a cocktail list concocted by Quixotic (La Candaleria, Le Mary Celeste and Le Glass) – were designed by Soho House and Ennismore’s Creative Studio. The Hoxton also puts on yoga courses, masterclasses and exhibitions for tips on the art of living around the clock!
