Omega, with the new colours of time
What are the alpha and omega values of a watch today? A perfect, reliable time, but a time that we do not look at with a simple glance (the smartphone screen is enough if only this need guides us), a time on which we throw ourselves to admire the magic. Which, on the other hand, passes through the beauty of the watchmaking model, through history, technology, colour, details, in short the many facets of the messages it conveys. The emotion of present time, of even reinvented time, is born of virtues and mysteries that the sole choreography of two hands rotating on a dial does not explain alone. Omega knows that, to its models of outstanding precision, adds the extra soul that makes the difference.
The new Aqua Terra Shades are of this vein, of this timing of time that we detail with delight rather than reading without stopping. Heiresses of the Aqua Terra born in 2002 paying tribute to the maritime legacy of Omega and the spirit of its iconic Seamaster (the Co-Axial movement certified Master Chronometer is part of the game) as reliable on water as on land (hence the name of the collection), they preserve the unique register of urban chic mixed with maritime ingenuity. While bringing him colors never seen before.Enough to offer to his style the shades of life, shades of dial extending from the land to the sea. For example, the 38 mm polished stainless steel cases set sail on an Atlantic blue, which make you want by the way a sweet laurel green, dare sandstone, saffron, and even invent an original terracotta. The 34 mm versions rely on the subtle softness of sea blue, lagoon green, shell pink and lavender. This revisited rainbow has been possible thanks to new technologies. The dials, shaped in brass, are sunny from the centre, covered with a layer of lacquer that gives them an unexpected finish. Their unique nuances are born thanks to the PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition), which gives a particular effect and unusual tones like terracotta, or the CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) whose chemical reaction allows the unexpected sea blue. To anchor even more the marine universe in these watches called to sail where the beautiful goes on voyage, the hands and indexes were drawn in the shape of boat hull, rhodium-plated in large models and in 18-carat white gold for those in 34 mm. Stainless steel bracelets have also been redesigned, with refined and rounded links. As many success stories as Omega’s ambassadors – Zoë Kravitz, Zhou Dongyu and Eddie Redmayne – will highlight in advertising campaigns full of pep, like these elegantly toned models.
As for the two versions in 18-carat gold, one with a bezel paved with 46 diamonds with sunken lacquered sandstone dial, the other in exclusive Omega Moonshine gold with green lagoon dial, they show that we can love marine references, but at the same time want to celebrate urban-chic luxury. Aqua Terra Shades, the alpha of Omega for who likes to give other shades to time.
