Fine Arts Paris French excellence at the Grand Palais
This September, Fine Arts Paris takes over the nave of the Grand Palais with the confidence of an event that has firmly established its place on the international art calendar. At the crossroads of heritage, design and the art of living, the fair unfolds as a journey through centuries and disciplines, where antiquities enter into conversation with Old Masters, decorative arts, sculpture, design, rare books and contemporary creation. Some one hundred French and international galleries bring together the finest works in their respective fields, once again confirming Paris as one of the world’s leading centers for the international art market.
For this edition, interior designer Charles Zana has conceived the fair’s setting as a city waiting to be explored, with squares, vistas and open spaces that invite visitors to wander, linger and discover new perspectives. Works emerge along the way, engaging in conversation with one another and creating an environment in which taste becomes the true guiding thread.
Alongside Jacques Garcia, Tristan Auer, Jean-Michel Wilmotte, Constance Guisset and Thierry Lemaire, Charles Zana also shares his personal favorites, highlighting the extent to which antiques continue to inspire today’s most contemporary interiors.
But Fine Arts Paris extends far beyond its gallery stands. The fair fosters an ongoing dialogue with major cultural institutions. This year’s guest of honor is the future Musée du Grand Siècle in Saint-Cloud, scheduled to open in 2028. Architect and interior designer François-Joseph Graf will offer an exclusive preview of a presentation centered on works from 17th-century France that will eventually be exhibited there. Meanwhile, during Semaine des Arts, some fifteen museums will exceptionally open their doors for exclusive, behind-the-scenes visits. The restoration of a 19th-century plaster statue depicting Jean-Jacques Rousseau will also be carried out live by the City of Paris conservation teams – a reminder that behind every masterpiece lies the remarkable expertise of those entrusted with preserving it.
Among the highlights of this year’s edition, Nouveaux Horizons is set to draw particular attention. Located at the heart of the nave, the space brings together around ten young galleries participating for the first time in an international fair of this scale. Alongside Aurélie Biot Worms, Le Manuscrit Français, Dedrie Gallery, Fa Presto, Haesaerts-Le Grelle, Villa Rosemaine, AEON, Galerie Gilles Hervy, Galerie Drake and Galerie Ingert, a new generation of dealers is passionately championing furniture, works on paper, manuscripts, rare objects and decorative arts. The selection brings a fresh perspective to heritage and reflects an art market in the midst of transformation, where uncompromising standards are increasingly matched by a spirit of boldness.
Sculpture, finally, emerges as one of the defining signatures of this edition. From ancient fragments to bronzes by François Pompon, Rembrandt Bugatti, Germaine Richier and Henry Moore, Fine Art Paris celebrates a medium that is captivating a new generation of collectors. Fueled by major exhibitions, historical research and the exacting standards of leading dealers, this renewed enthusiasm is placing fresh emphasis on provenance, the quality of casts and the stories surrounding each work. More than a revival, it signals a new way of collecting.
At the intersection of the art market, culture and the art of living, Fine Arts Paris offers a striking reminder that Paris remains one of the world’s most exciting playgrounds for art lovers.
