A new showcase on place Vendôme for Van Cleef & Arpels

Van Cleef & Arpels has opened a new store in Paris for its jewelry and timepiece collections, along with more vintage items, in a space combining classical architecture and contemporary design.

Van Cleef & Arpels recently opened a new showcase at 20 place Vendôme in addition to its original store at 22-24 on the same square. With its smoked oak parquet flooring, wool and silk carpets, carved wood paneling, leather panels, and gold-leaf ceilings, although intimate and comfortable, it still oozes Parisian charm, and the moment you cross the threshold you feel as if you’re entering a private mansion house. Enjoying all the coziness of a Haussmannian interior, this 280 sq.m. showcase is spread over two levels, linked by a large suspended staircase designed, like the rest of the space, by architectural duo Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manju (the brains behind the brand’s New York and Hong Kong flagship stores). A real architectural feat, this flight of stairs gives a truly theatrical air to the space.

The jewelry collections, the label’s heritage and iconic watches, along with archive models including the minaudières popular with tomboys in the Roaring Twenties, the Cadenas watches launched in 1935, and the Zip necklaces inspired by the Duchess of Windsor, to discover in the store’s themed exhibitions, are presented in a series of interlinked rooms. Curvaceous cases have been custom-made for all of Van Cleef & Arpels’ emblematic lines, while the Complications Poétiques watch range is brought to life against the moving landscape background of an animated display. Although the high jewelry lines will now be displayed exclusively next door, at 22 place Vendôme, this new contemporary showcase will regularly present exceptional designs, including the recently released Cascade Mystérieuse necklace. Set with 28 soft blue Madagascar sapphires (66.47 carats) standing out against a cascade of brilliant diamonds intertwining with a swirl of deep green emeralds, it has a distinctive Serti Mystérieux and two detachable clips. The technique is almost never used with emeralds because this precious stone is extremely fragile! This new store is bound to delight aficionados of jewelry and fine watchmaking.
