Dior’s La Collection Privée welcomes a new creation: Cuir Saddle. Its name references the iconic bag of the same name, inspired by the curves of a horse saddle and first introduced in 1999. Conceived by Francis Kurkdjian, Director of Perfume Creation, this olfactory opus redefines the notion of leather fragrances. “I wanted to create a leather scent conceived as a trompe-l’œil – one that opens in a classic pyrogenic, smoky, and woody accord, yet ultimately surprises and delights the senses with an entirely unexpected lightness,” explains the perfumer. The opening reveals a woody leather note, almost velvety in texture. It is then enveloped by floral and musky accents that soften and refine its more animalic facets. The bottle cap is adorned with a leather covering shaped in saddle-inspired curves, echoing the eponymous bag. The travel case slips into a supple leather sleeve, distinctly couture, finished with the iconic “D” as a signature.

Christine Nagel, perfumer at Hermès, presents a new creation: Un Jardin sous la Mer. This fragrance brings together mineral notes – through a so-called “coral” accord – with tiare flower and tamanu nut, resulting in a striking floral-musky composition. Like the scent it holds, the collection’s signature lantern-shaped bottle is rendered in a gradient of blues, evoking a journey that begins in the depths of the sea and rises toward the airy clarity of an infinite horizon. For each fragrance in the Jardin collection, the Maison invites an artist to interpret its world with complete creative freedom. Here, illustrator Aino-Maija Metsola lends her poetic vision to the case.
