Gem Dior, the most graphic of the Dior Jewelry collections, welcomes sixteen new mixed pieces perfectly in tune with the times.
Gem Dior was born from the unprecedented marriage, in 2021, of two inspirations: the rectangular and multicolored fabric samples that Christian Dior hung in his studio on the collection plans, and the raw form of the stones that Victoire de Castellane selects, Artistic director of Dior Jewelry, for the creation of its jewellery. The result is an abstract but harmoniously orchestrated assemblage of platelets of gold and cut stones, such as onyx, malachite, turquoise, carnelian, aragonite, chrysoprase, tiger’s eye or lapis- lazuli, which give life to this precious score. For the new pieces that have just been added to the Gem Dior line, the choice of finesse has been privileged with a series of seven rings, seven bracelets and two watches. Layers of white, yellow or pink gold, some paved or semi-paved with diamonds. The mood is simple for a totally mixed wear and, why not, accumulating by mixing the different gold. As for the colour, it is found on the octagonal dial of both watches. The first is decorated with diamond-lit malachite while the bracelet alternates yellow gold and steel. The second opts for the starry blue of the lapis-lazuli that is found in the bracelet also rhythmed by the lighter and more sustained greens of chrysoprase and malachite. Jewelry timepieces and fashion accessories, these articulated bracelets without clasp are worn open on the wrist. In terms of know-how, particular attention is paid to their flexibility and to the polishing of their gold platelets which must be impeccable to ensure an optimal shine. Gem Dior is now one of the must-sees alongside other successful lines such as Rose des vents and La Rose Dior. Both very graphic and deliberately rugged, it pays tribute to the world of couture that has permeated Victoire de Castellane’s creations for more than twenty years, and to nature, an inexhaustible source of inspiration.
